Palworld Type Chart

What beats what. Strong types deal 2× and only take half back. Wrong type and you're the one getting farmed.

Nine elements: Neutral, Fire, Water, Grass, Electric, Ice, Ground, Dark, Dragon. Follow the arrows — each one points to a type that takes damage. The reverse hit is ½.

Bosses and dual-types are where this matters. Bring Water into Fire and you both deal more and eat less. Bring Neutral into Dark and you'll notice.

Effectiveness map

Arrows point at the type that takes 2×. Left loop is the main cycle; Fire also branches right into Ice → Dragon → Dark → Neutral. Click any gem to highlight it below.

Dual-types and bosses

Two elements means two ways to get hit for 2×. Look at both before you commit.

Don't just pick any 2×

Fire / Ground can be hit by Water or Grass. Water into Fire is usually safer if the Pal is throwing Fire back at you.

Keep a few types around

Towers swap elements a lot. A team of only Neutral Pals falls over the second Dark shows up.

Server rates still stack

Type multipliers don't change on a dedicated box. PalDamageRateAttack / PalDamageRateDefense in PalWorldSettings.ini still scale the numbers. Use the settings generator if bosses feel spongy or melt too fast.

More players, more RAM

Bigger fights load more Pals. The RAM calculator helps match plan size to how many people and bases you actually run before the whole group piles in.

Common questions

Type matchups, dual Pals, and what server settings actually change.

How do element strengths work in Palworld?

Super effective hits deal 2×. The reverse hit deals 0.5×. Fire beats Grass and Ice, Water beats Fire, Electric beats Water, Ground beats Electric, Grass beats Ground, Ice beats Dragon, Dragon beats Dark, Dark beats Neutral. Neutral doesn't counter anything.

What beats Fire in Palworld?

Water. It deals 2× to Fire and only takes half back. Fire still shreds Grass and Ice. Check the matrix for anything else.

What about Pals with two elements?

Either element can be a weakness. Check both, then pick a counter that also doesn't get wrecked by whatever the Pal is throwing at you.

Does the strong element also take less damage?

Yes, it's mirrored. Water 2× into Fire means Fire only does 0.5× into Water. Right type both hits harder and tanks better.

How many elements are in Palworld?

Nine: Neutral, Fire, Water, Grass, Electric, Ice, Ground, Dark, Dragon. Neutral is the odd one out. Nothing it beats, only Dark beats it.

Do element multipliers change on a dedicated server?

No. The chart is the same everywhere. PalDamageRateAttack and PalDamageRateDefense in PalWorldSettings.ini still multiply overall damage on top of type matchups. Tweak those in the settings generator if fights feel wrong. Hosting the world? AleForge Palworld plans.
