How to Change Sandbox Settings on Your 7 Days to Die Server
On current 7 Days to Die versions, detailed gameplay rules — loot abundance, zombie sprinting, block damage, XP rates, and dozens more — are bundled into a sandbox configuration. The easiest way to move those settings onto your server is with a sandbox code.
Generate a code in-game
Section titled “Generate a code in-game”- Launch 7 Days to Die on your PC
- Click
New Game→Sandbox Options - Adjust settings (or pick a preset like Default, Insane, or Scavenger)
- Click
Copy Codeat the bottom - Paste that string somewhere safe — you will need the full code
You do not have to start the game after copying. The code is all you need.
Apply the code on AleForge
Section titled “Apply the code on AleForge”- Open the AleForge Panel
- Stop the server
- Go to
Startup - Find
Sandbox Code(orGame Optionson older layouts) and paste your code - Save and restart from
Console
Players joining the server will get those rules on connect.
Sandbox changes on an existing world can behave inconsistently. Loot and spawn rules apply best on a new world. For a known-clean start, set a new World Name after changing the code.
Presets without the game installed
Section titled “Presets without the game installed”The official presets (Default, Insane, Scavenger, etc.) are the same ones in the single-player menu. If you do not have the game handy, generate a code on any machine that does, or copy a preset code from a friend’s sandbox screen.
Community sandbox editors exist online; only use codes from sources you trust.
Sandbox vs basic Startup settings
Section titled “Sandbox vs basic Startup settings”Game Difficulty on Startup is the broad difficulty tier. The sandbox code fine-tunes everything underneath — day length, horde frequency, air drops, land claim size, and so on.
