How to Make a Private 7 Days to Die Server
Keeping strangers out is usually a password, a whitelist, or both. Passwords are quicker to set up; whitelists are tighter if you only want named players.
Set a server password
Section titled “Set a server password”- Open the AleForge Panel
- Stop the server
- Go to
Startupand setServer Password, or editServerPasswordinserverconfig.xmlviaFile Manager - Save and restart
Players enter the password once when using Connect To IP. Passwords are case-sensitive.
Anyone with the password can join. Share it only with people you trust.
Use a whitelist instead
Section titled “Use a whitelist instead”A whitelist blocks everyone except Steam IDs you add manually. Better when you do not want the password passed around.
See Whitelist players.
Hide from the public browser
Section titled “Hide from the public browser”Even with a password, the server can still show in the list. To hide it:
- Stop the server
- Edit
serverconfig.xml - Set
ServerVisibilityto2(not listed — direct IP only)
Details in Configure your server.
Connection issues?
Section titled “Connection issues?”If friends cannot join after setting a password, double-check IP, port, and caps lock on the password. See Troubleshooting.
