How to Choose a Map for Your 7 Days to Die Server

Your “map” in 7 Days to Die is really two things: which world generates or loads (Navezgane, RWG, or custom), and which save (World Name) stores player progress.

The hand-crafted default map. Good for learning the game or running a vanilla server without surprise terrain.

  1. Startup → set World Map to Navezgane
  2. Set World Name to a new name for a fresh save, or an existing name to continue
  3. Restart

A new procedural map every time you use a new world name. See the full walkthrough: Randomly generated world.

  • World MapRWG
  • World Gen Seed — optional; same seed = same terrain
  • World Map Size — multiples of 2048 up to 16384
  • World Namemust change to generate a new map

Changing world size only applies to new RWG worlds. It will break an existing save.

Moving a save from your PC or another host:

After upload, match GameWorld, seed, size, and World Name on Startup to the save you copied.

To hop between two saves you already have:

  1. Stop the server
  2. Change World Map and World Name on Startup to the other world’s values
  3. Start the server

Each World Name is its own folder under .local/share/7DaysToDie/Saves/.
