How do I create a Custom World on my Return to Moria server?

This guide shows how to create a custom or sandbox world on your Return to Moria server. Not sure which world type to pick? See Campaign vs Sandbox.

  1. Open the Blacksmith’s Portal
  2. Stop your server
  3. Go to Startup
  4. Enter a new World Name to force the server to generate a fresh world
  5. Set World Type to Campaign or Sandbox
  6. Set Difficulty to your desired preset, or choose custom for fine-grained control
  7. If using custom difficulty, adjust these Startup variables:
    • Custom Combat Difficulty
    • Custom Enemy Aggression
    • Custom Survival Difficulty
    • Custom Mining Drops
    • Custom World Drops
    • Custom Horde Frequency
    • Custom Siege Frequency
    • Custom Patrol Frequency
  8. Acceptable values for the custom settings are verylow, low, default, high, and veryhigh
  9. Start your server

To return to a previous world later, set World Name back to that world’s name on Startup.

  1. Open the directory where your Moria server is installed
  2. Open MoriaServerConfig.ini
  3. Under [World] change Name= to a new value. This will force the server to create a new world in case there is one already generated. If you ever want to change back to your old world, just place the name of the old world here
  4. Under [World.Create] you can change Type= to make your world a sandbox or a campaign world
  5. Change Difficulty.Preset to custom
  6. Scroll down until you find Difficulty.Custom

Scroll down until you find Difficulty.Custom
